What you can expect to see and do: 

Our Desert Escape Road Trip retreat will take you across four cities and you’ll come to truly feel the difference between a traveler and a foreigner. Forget the ‘chi chi frou frou’ instagrammable, romanticized Morocco everyone longs for. We want you to connect with our traditional North African culture. Yes there will be breathtaking Riyads, luxurious palaces and Souqs (market places) but what makes Morocco so unique is the warmth of its people and the blend of African, Arab and Berber heritage.  

Our Desert Escape Tour will be a unique 8 day road trip across various cities. Marrakech,  Warzazate, Ait Ben Haddou, Merzouga desert and Todra Gorges.. If you dig a genuine experience; bring a book, a pillow or lover, a friend, podcasts, a set of dominoes and your sense of adventure.

Burgundy Roots prides itself in unique and curated travel experiences. In order for us to fulfill our promise, we must pay our suppliers ahead of time. Please note that your first TWO PAYMENTS (50 %) are non-refundable. Thank you for your understanding. Please read carefully through our cancellation policy and message us if you have any questions.

Deposit/payment terms:  Please note that all deposits and payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. Deposits must be  received within the time specified at the time of booking in order to confirm your booking and avoid automatic cancellation. If you are unable to attend for whatever reason, you may transfer the trip to a family member or friend. 

Cancellation charges: 

Please note that the first two deposits and payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.  In the event of a travel ban due to COVID-19 or any other unforeseen circumstances, retreat dates will be altered to a later date. No refunds will be granted. Discomfort/unease with regards to travel or quarantine upon return will not be considered. All payments are final and non-refundable.

Final payment:

Final payments are due 80 days prior to the trip. Any cancellation made 90 days or more prior to the trip is subject to a 50% penalty (your card will be charged another 25% of the retreat fee). Any cancellation made 89 days or less prior to the trip is subject to full payment of the retreat fee.  

Vaccination: 

It is incumbent upon each traveler to check the rules and regulations in regards to vaccination demands in each country. Each traveler must ensure that they meet the criteria upon entry, as no refund will be granted if one does not meet the criteria. You may sell your slot or send someone else on your behalf instead, however no refund nor credit will be granted. 

Arrive at the Marrakech airport and meet the rest of our group.  Our team will be at the hotel, the welcome you and ensure your check-in is smooth. We will also have a team member at the airport who will gladly facilitate and connect you to a taxi driver that will bring you to our hotel. we recommend landing before 2 PM in order to enjoy some downtime and a nap before dinner.

After a delicious Moroccan breakfast, we will do both a walking and driving tour of Marrakech, learning about its history and culture. After the tour, we’ll head back to the hotel where you will have the rest of the day to explore Marrakech and old town. 

We will depart this morning from Marrakech at 9:00 a.m. and start traveling to Ouarzazate via the Tichka Pass (2260m) the highest

road pass in Morocco. Stop to enjoy the m panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains and magnificent landscapes, scenery

peppered by small Berber villages typical of the region.

As we continue ro road trip across the Atlas mountains with stops in multiple Berber Villages along the way, we will reach the door of the Sahara desert and spend the night in an inn. 

We'll enjoy a slow morning, head to Merzouga town, learn about its local customs, enjoy a delicious lunch and make our way back to the hotel and prepare for our camel ride. Our camels will take us to our campsite. We'll spend the night camping under the stars.

We'll begin our day after breakfast and make our way to Fes the spiritual capital of the country!

Today we explore the old Medina of Fes in all its glory!

Let's make our way to the Blue City!

Let's explore the city of Chawen through a walking tour, after the tour you will enjoy free time to shop, relax and eat!

Let's explore Casablanca and check into our hotel! This will be our last day together and tomorrow is departure day.
