A huge thank you to Wafa for organising such an incredible trip. What stood out most was the attention to detail. From the beautifully arranged beach dinners to seeing some hidden-gem locations. Every experience felt thoughtfully curated. Wafa went above and beyond to make sure that we didn't just visit the main attractions, but also explored the authentic parts of Zanzibar through unique experiences and secret dinner locations. I also appreciated the philosophy of Burgundy roots - it wasn't only about enjoying Zanzibar, but also about giving back and engaging with the local community in a meaningful way. This approach added a deeper level of connection to my experience. There is so much care, passion, and heart that Wafa puts into the work, and you can genuinely feel it throughout the journey. For example, we had evening reflections during the first part or the experience - taking time each night to reflect intentionally created a bonding opportunity for the group and to reflect on the trip spiritually. The entire team was fantastic, and the atmosphere throughout the trip was 10/10. I can't wait for my next Burgundy Roots trip!

I had an amazing and unforgettable time in Zanzibar. The retreat was very deaf friendly, with the host and team making a real effort to accommodate me by communicating through speech-to-text, which made everything so much easier. I felt truly welcomed and never lonely at any point, and I really appreciated their kindness and support throughout my stay. It was such a special experience for me as my first solo travel, and I would definitely book another retreat in the future. ❤️

Thank you to Burgundy Roots, Wafa and the rest of the hosts for such a wonderful Zanzibar trip. Zanzibar is absolutely beautiful - the beaches, the water and the sunsets were amazing. As a first-time "solo" female traveller, I'm really glad I chose to go with Burgundy Roots. I felt very well taken care of throughout the trip, and everyone in the group was kind and welcoming. The group size was small, which made it feel very comfortable and almost like travelling with family. I also loved that the itinerary wasn't just the usual tourist activities. The private swim in the caves and our own boat for the sunset dhow cruise were definite highlights. You could tell a lot of thought went into the planning, and everything ran very smoothly. Safe to say this won't be my last Burgundy Roots trip. Looking forward to the next one!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Absolutely a dream come true. Zanzibar Dreaming was exactly that, living a dream that is indescribable. The accommodations, activities, the food, the attendees were magnificent and the Burgundy Roots travel team amazing and I can't forget Wafa, the one who makes your dreams come true. For my husband and I we only have praise and total satisfaction. God Bless Burgundy Roots for proving unique and interesting halal experiences. Can't wait for the next one.

I have been itching to go to Zanzibar for years, but I‘ve never had someone to go with. It’s also quite far to get there from Australia, so I was really happy when I found Burgundy Roots through Instagram. From the testimonials and the photos of past trips, I could tell that I would be in good company with other like-minded Muslim travellers. This put me at ease because I know that the island is not really geared around solo travellers and this way the important things like accomodation, activities and transferring around the island would be sorted out for me. Wafa has been running this itinerary for several years and improving/evolving where she takes us, which takes all the guesswork out of the trip. The places she takes us to are top tier and the owners know, trust and respect her. She also has been working with local guides long term, who add additional local knowledge and advice to the itinerary. For example, our tour guide in Stonetown was both incredibly knowledgeable and provided an interesting itinerary of the area - which you don’t always get if you organise your tours yourself. This was my first tour with Wafa but it won’t be my last inshallah!
