What You Can Expect to See & Experience
Burgundy Roots: Morocco Unveiled is an immersive journey through the heart of Morocco — taking you across three iconic cities where you’ll experience the difference between simply visiting a place and truly connecting with it.
Forget the polished, romanticized version of Morocco often portrayed online. Beyond the picture-perfect riads, grand palaces, and colorful souqs lies something far more meaningful: a living culture shaped by centuries of tradition, hospitality, and heritage.
Yes, you’ll wander through breathtaking riads, experience luxurious stays, explore historic markets, and discover architectural wonders. But what makes Morocco unforgettable is its people — their warmth, generosity, and the beautiful fusion of African, Arab, and Amazigh (Berber) influences that make this country unlike anywhere else in the world.
Morocco Unveiled is a carefully curated 9-day journey through three unique destinations:
✨ Fes — 3 nights
Discover Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart, where ancient traditions, artisan crafts, and centuries-old history come alive.
✨ Chefchaouen — 3 nights
Slow down in the enchanting Blue Pearl of Morocco, surrounded by mountain landscapes, charming streets, and a peaceful rhythm of life.
✨ Casablanca — 2 nights
End your journey in Morocco’s modern coastal hub, experiencing its unique blend of history, architecture, and contemporary culture.

Welcome to the Burgundy Roots Family!
Your journey begins the moment you arrive in Morocco. To make the most of your first day, we recommend booking a flight that lands between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. This will allow you enough time to settle in, check into our hotel, and ease into the rhythm of Morocco before we begin our adventure together.
If you’re unable to find flights that arrive within this timeframe, we recommend — if your budget and schedule allow — arriving the day before the retreat begins. This gives you the opportunity to acclimatize, recover from travel, and ease into the time change so you can fully enjoy every moment of the experience.
After some time to rest and refresh, we’ll begin our first adventure together with a private driving tour of the city at 3:00 PM. This will be your first glimpse into Morocco’s rich history, vibrant culture, and hidden gems as we begin uncovering the beauty of this unforgettable country.
Welcome to Morocco. Welcome to Burgundy Roots.
Begin your day with a delicious traditional Moroccan breakfast before setting out for an unforgettable exploration of the historic Medina of Fes. Today, we’ll immerse ourselves in the heart of the city, visiting its beautiful mosques, vibrant shops, skilled artisans, famous tanneries, and the renowned university that has shaped centuries of knowledge and learning.
This will be a longer walking tour, so please come prepared with comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and an umbrella or sun protection for shade as needed.
Schedule
Traditional Moroccan Breakfast
Guided Tour of the Medina
Lunch
After lunch, enjoy some well-deserved free time to shop, rest, take a nap, or simply reset before the evening activities.
Dinner will be served at 6:30 PM.
Enjoy your last day off in Fes! Spend time at the Masjid, book a Hamam experience, walk around the Medina and shop away!
Day 5: Journey to Chefchaouen — The Blue Pearl of Morocco
Today, we leave the historic streets of Fes and make our way to the breathtaking mountain city of Chefchaouen, where we’ll spend the next three days slowing down, relaxing, and soaking in the beauty of one of Morocco’s most enchanting destinations.
The drive will take approximately 5 hours, so please wear comfortable clothing and shoes for the journey. To make this transition easier, we kindly ask that you pack only a carry-on bag and backpack with everything you’ll need for the next few days.
Our hotel in Chefchaouen requires a bit of a walk — there are approximately 160 stairs from the front gate to the main entrance. Traveling lighter will make the experience smoother for everyone and will greatly assist our porters.
Please pack everything you’ll need for 4 days (including travel days) so you can fully enjoy your time in the Blue Pearl without the need to carry heavy luggage.
Schedule:
🕘 Departure Time: 9:00 AM
🚐 Drive Duration: Approximately 5 hours
Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, we’ll check into our beautiful hotel, settle in, and enjoy a relaxing dinner together as we begin this next chapter of our Moroccan journey.
Get ready to embrace the slower pace, breathtaking views, and unforgettable charm of the Blue City.
Day 6: Discovering the Blue Pearl of Morocco
We’ll begin our day with a guided tour of Chefchaouen, where you’ll learn about the history, culture, and unique traditions of this magical mountain city. Wander through its famous blue-painted streets, discover its Andalusian influences, meet local artisans, and uncover the stories that make Chefchaouen one of Morocco’s most beloved destinations.
Before lunch, you’ll be dismissed to enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace.
From 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM, you’ll have free time to explore, relax, and create your own Chefchaouen experience.
Here are some unique experiences we recommend:
✨ Sunset Hike to the Spanish Mosque
Take the short hike to the Spanish Mosque for one of the most breathtaking views of Chefchaouen. Arrive before sunset with a cup of Moroccan mint tea and watch the Blue Pearl transform as the sun sets over the Rif Mountains.
✨ Private Artisan Shopping Experience
Chefchaouen is known for its handmade crafts. Take your time exploring local shops for woven blankets, handwoven baskets, traditional clothing, leather goods, and unique souvenirs. We recommend supporting local artisans and looking beyond the tourist shops.
✨ Traditional Moroccan Hammam Experience
Treat yourself to a relaxing Moroccan hammam — a centuries-old wellness ritual involving steam, exfoliation, and deep relaxation. It’s the perfect way to slow down and embrace Moroccan culture.
✨ Photography Walk Through Hidden Streets
Chefchaouen is famous for its blue alleyways, but some of the most beautiful moments are found away from the main streets. Wander without a plan, discover hidden corners, and capture the everyday beauty of life in the Blue City.
✨ Enjoy a Rooftop Tea Experience
Find a beautiful rooftop terrace, order Moroccan mint tea, and simply take in the views of the mountains, the medina, and the rhythm of local life.
✨ Visit the Local Market
Explore the small local markets where residents shop for fresh produce, spices, and everyday goods. This is a wonderful way to experience authentic Moroccan life beyond the typical tourist route.
✨ Slow Down & Enjoy the Magic
Chefchaouen is a city meant to be felt, not rushed. Read a book in a quiet café, journal, enjoy a long meal, or simply wander the blue streets and let the city reveal itself to you.
Dinner will be on your own tonight, giving you the freedom to choose your own culinary adventure and experience Chefchaouen at your own pace.
Day 7: A Slow Luxury Day in Chefchaouen
Today is yours to enjoy a slow luxury day in the magical Blue Pearl of Morocco.
We intentionally chose to spend an extra night in Chefchaouen so you have the opportunity to truly experience the beauty of this special place — to wake up to breathtaking mountain views, enjoy the fresh air, soak in the peaceful atmosphere, relax by the beautiful swimming pool, and embrace the slower rhythm of life that makes Chefchaouen so unforgettable.
Take this time to rest, reflect, explore at your own pace, shop for local treasures, enjoy a café overlooking the medina, or simply allow yourself to be present in this beautiful corner of Morocco.
For those looking for a unique cultural experience, we are happy to organize an optional Zellige Mosaic Workshop.
🏺 Traditional Zellige Mosaic Experience
Step into the world of Moroccan craftsmanship and learn the art of zellige — the intricate mosaic tilework that has decorated Morocco’s most beautiful buildings for centuries. Under the guidance of a local artisan, you’ll create your own handmade piece while learning about the history, patience, and skill behind this traditional art form.
This experience is:
Hands-on and interactive
Led by a local artisan
A beautiful way to connect with Moroccan culture
A meaningful keepsake to bring home
Cost: Starting at $95 per person
(Please let us know in advance if you would like to participate so we can reserve your spot.)
Today is about slowing down, reconnecting, and enjoying the magic of Chefchaouen — exactly as Morocco intended.
Day 9: From the Blue Pearl to Casablanca
Today, we say goodbye to the peaceful mountain landscapes of Chefchaouen and make our way to Casablanca — Morocco’s modern coastal city and our final destination together.
The drive will take approximately 5 hours (give or take 45 minutes depending on traffic and road conditions), so please make yourself comfortable and enjoy the changing scenery as we travel from the Rif Mountains toward the Atlantic coast.
Schedule:
🕘 Departure Time: 8:45 AM
🚐 Drive Duration: Approximately 5–5.5 hours
🕝 Estimated Arrival in Casablanca: 2:30 PM
Upon arrival, we’ll head straight to one of our favorite restaurants in the city for a delicious lunch and a chance to relax after the journey.
After lunch, we’ll check into our hotel at 5:00 PM. You’ll have time to freshen up, settle in, and relax.
As the sun begins to set, we’ll head out to experience one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks: the breathtaking Hassan II Mosque.
Watching the golden light reflect off the mosque and the ocean is a truly unforgettable experience — a moment to pause, take in the journey we’ve shared so far, and appreciate the incredible history, culture, and beauty that surrounds us. It’s the perfect introduction to Casablanca and a meaningful moment as we continue discovering the many layers of Morocco together.
Day 10: Farewell Casablanca
We’ll spend our final day together exploring the beautiful Medina of Casablanca — taking in the city’s history, architecture, local shops, and the vibrant rhythm of everyday Moroccan life.
After our exploration, we’ll come together for a special farewell lunch — a chance to reflect on the memories we’ve created, the places we’ve discovered, and the connections we’ve built throughout this journey.
Following lunch, you’ll have a few hours to unwind, finish packing, do any last-minute shopping, or simply enjoy your final moments in Morocco at your own pace.
It has been an absolute pleasure and honor to host you. At Burgundy Roots, we see our guests as amanahs — a trust and responsibility entrusted to us. We are deeply grateful that you chose to share this journey with us, and we hope you leave Morocco with not only beautiful memories, but a deeper connection to its people, culture, and spirit.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey. Until we meet again — travel with an open heart, and always travel Burgundy Roots.
