Welcome to Zanzibar!
Welcome to the island of Unguja, popularly known as Zanzibar!

Upon arrival, guests will make their way to Makundichi (we will connect you with the hotel to book your airport pick up) Upon arrival, you'll meet the group and team at our hotel. Check in begins at 3:00 PM. Our team will be there to ensure that check in is smooth and easy for everyone.
Once you are settled in, we will get together for refreshments and introductions! Get to know the rest of the group through games and activities!
Please note that airport pick up and drop off is not part of the package.

After breakfast, we'll head to Paje beach and enjoy a beautiful morning.

We'll stay there until lunch and visit a Madrassa on our way back inshallah!

Day 3: Seaweed

Seaweed centre visit in Paje
Drive to seaweed centre and visit with an expert local guide. At seaweed centre you will learn about seaweed farming, which is the second largest industry on the island. Located in Paje, this local enterprise creates opportunities for women algae farmers to improve their standard of living and participate in economic development activities that benefit the community. Depending on the tide, you may see the seaweed harvest.
After our visit, we'll take you to a beautiful and secret lagoon for a swim in Fresh water. We'll spend the rest of our afternoon there, enjoying a swim and delicious foods.
After dinner, we will get together and play a series of card games to help us get to know each other better.

Today we will leave the south coast to make our way to the north! We'll spend 4 nights in Kendwa beach! After check in, you can enjoy a walk on the beach and some much needed free time.
We will connect again in the evening for group activities.

Safari Blue boat ridee
Grab your sunscreen, bathing suit, snorkelling gear (if you wish), as we will go to the starting point of the Safari Blue, a full day of activity. You will embark on a traditional Dhow (sailing boat) and head to a paradisiacal sandbank in the middle of the ocean. You can swim, snorkel and enjoy Zanzibar's clear waters!
Afterwards, we'll head to another island for a delicious seafood lunch!

Welcome to Zanzibar!

Another amazing adventure! I've been to Umrah before and each time I go, I learn something new. Before I would want to rush to Makkah but I fell in love with Madina because of this trip. The location Wafa chose for both of the haruums was on point. I had such a good time with the group of people that Wafa brought together, it felt like I was there with my soul mates. The guides were exceptional. They took the group to places that I had never visited before. Even right after Umrah was complete (as you exit), there were certain sites that I had no idea was there (ex. Bibi Khadija's house). For this trip, Wafa had hired a photographer (a lovely husband and wife team) that became an extension of the group. If I had the chance, I would bring my family and go to Umrah again with Wafa. I know she'll put together an exceptional trip. :)

The Ummrah trip was amazing! I felt fully supported in completing ummrah correctly. The classes with Mustafa Briggs were inspiring and enlightening. I made friends for life and everything was taken care of for us. The hotels were beautiful and perfectly located in Medina and Mecca. I would highly recommend traveling with Burgundy Roots!

Another wonderful trip by Wafa and the crew! The perfect blend of activities and chill downtime on the beach - I especially loved the boat ride with the swim at the reef and the day at stush in the bush. The group was an intimate, likeminded female-only group that felt like we’ve all known each other for a long time. Getting to experience Jamaican culture and hospitality was wonderful, and I look forward to going there again!

I traveled with Wafa to do the Umrah... That was such a good experience. This trip is definitely the best by far. She is so professional and a nice person. I have been on two Burgundy roots trips so far and I must say, the itineraries are very well thought out. Wafa and her team pay attention to every detail and leave no stone unturned to ensure a truly unique, hands-off and stress-free experience for all attendees. You get to visit some hidden gems , spend time in nature, enjoy delicious food with amazing COMPANY and learn more about Islam while you’re at it. Such a beautiful, spiritually uplifting experience! Traveled with Burgundy Roots this summer to Jamaica and it was everything!!!! Wafa and her team were great! All the experiences and people I meet were a whole vibe. If you're thinking about traveling with them just do it, it will be so worth it.
